Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary is around 60 km from Delhi and just nearby Gurgaon. It opens at 7 AM, which is pretty late as per birding standards. We reached at 6-45 AM and already 4 vehicles were waiting at the gate. October first week is not the peak season either, still Sunday morning bird enthusiasts just couldn't resist coming here.
I am so jealous of the people staying in Gurgaon. They are living so close to a Bird Heaven. Although I spent only 3-4 hours here but somehow just managed to cover the entire park. And that too the migratory birds are still not in full swing. Just a handful of Northern Pintails and Shovellers. But besides that the park has birds in abundance and if you have an eye of a birder then 6 hours is what you actually need to cover it in entirety.
I was however surprised to find that there was no entry fee here in this park. It's FREE! That's something. Parking space is abundant, however in peak season it might be a concern as well unless you are an early riser. No parking charges as well.
Anyway, so here are the pics.I could spot one lifer as the Golden Oriole (Juvenile), no significant addition to my list, however I don't mind, the trip was good overall.
