I was pleasantly surprised to see the birding potential in Thol Bird Sanctuary. We reached Thol at around 10 AM and spent around a couple of hours walking on the lake side. It was neither the season to visit Thol nor was it the early morning time, even then I was easily able to spot some of the beautiful birds – both land birds as well as the water birds. I didn’t have the time to walk much further on the lake shore, so I just went about a couple of KM. Still this short visit was really fruitful at that odd morning hour on a non-winter month.
I wonder what it could have been if I was there at 6 AM on a day in December / January. The close proximity to Ahmedabad for bird watching activity cannot be any better than Thol.
