Hi Sumeet,
ReplyDeletePretty good outing, i am planning to visit this lake tomorrow.
You have perfect flight shots.
just a correction, the images you tagged as "Greater spotted eagle" is "Black Kite"
Thanks,
Naveen
Thanks Naveen
DeleteYes, you were right, one out of those two was Black Kite, however the other is Greater Spotted Eagle. Difference lies in the tail. Greater Spotter Eagle doesn't have that fork in its tail like the Kite. Tail of the Greater Spotted eagle is distinctly visible.
Hope you had a wonderful outing as well.
Are you in Hyderabad, can I join you for bird photography if any plan for ameenpur lake.

ReplyDeleteit seems only natural when you see something exciting or interesting in the natural world, you want to capture it or record it in some way. Cameras are a great way to do just do that!
No kidding!
DeleteI went through your pictures and they are amazing clicks :) Wonderful. Also, I see that the outings are with a photography group. I am in Hyderabad too :) Would be glad to connect and join in any recent outings.
ReplyDeleteYou can connect me at shanxat@gmail.com
Started birding recently and I am so glad to come across your blog :) Cheers.
Thanks indeed for visiting my blog! We can surely meet sometime to go on birding trips together. I will keep you posted in such cases. And i will make a note of your email too.
DeleteI recently made a quick morning trip to Gandipet park. However, the park was closed until 9.30. And there weren't any migratory birds. There were a lot of resident birds indeed :) Was this the place that I had to scout, or the back side, the other side of lake?
DeleteAlso, morning 6-10 is a good time or evening for Gandipet and this one :)
Sorry for too many questions. I just needed few information :) I love your clicks! Hope it isn't much trouble.
the park is bang opposite golconda resort. No migratories, only resident. For migratories you will have to walk through the gandipet lake from either chilkur side or the shankarpalli side.
DeleteHi, Have recently moved from Bangalore. Was looking for a photography group interested in Birding and Wildlife. Came across your blog very impressive. Request you to post me on your upcoming trips. My I'd is edamadakas@gmail.com.
ReplyDeleteAnd can you pls suggest if there are any good camera rental guys in Hyderabad.
I have made a note of your email and will keep you posted of the next outing. I am not very sure about rentals in Hyd as i have never used them, sorry.

DeleteWhat is the best time to visit ammenpur lake...?
ReplyDeletethis time if u visit..it will be best because its rainy season..u will find n number of birds there. i have done a shoot for my blog there which i did before the rainy season started. https://www.meralookvook.com/2018/07/my-hippie-style-and-ameenpur-lake-view.html
DeleteEarly morning or before evening usually is best.

DeleteWonderful Sumeet - great post and informative.
ReplyDeleteWhen is the best time to see the Flamingos - mornings or evenings ?
Is there a place where we can park the car and walk around ? Can you share the GPS location for this spot.
I plan to visit Hyderabad this weekend and I plan to visit the lake (I plan to visit around 4PM). Hope I can see the Flamingos
Balu, I am not sure if you can find Flamingos in Ameenpur lake. Fishing and public at large disturb the birds quite a lot these days in Ameenpur. Also the movement of vehicles make them run away. Ameenpur is no more a birding destination as it was 5 years ago. I am sorry to disappoint you but you won't find much there. Moreover this is not even the migratory season.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sumeet, I saw in FB lots of pics of Flamingos being uploaded tagged with Ameenpur lake. So was wondering...
DeleteYou could check with the person who uploaded in FB about the month of the sighting. I have my doubts if it is anytime recent.
DeleteSure ... The Ebird data also shows presence of Flamingos in Aug 2019... I'll let you know..
ReplyDeleteHi Sumeet, the flamingos are there. Saw them yesterday...100s of them. From the fish market side in the evening..
ReplyDeleteThat's great. Hope you enjoyed watching them. They are so out of the world beautiful.
DeleteIs Jan/Feb good months to visit the lake for birding? We are planning this weekend and wondering if it is a good idea. Also, is picnic allowed at the lakeside (including cooking)?
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, these are one of the best months for birding. And i think nobody should object for picnic. You can definitely trt that.
DeleteThanks for the prompt response Sumeet what's the good time to start from hyd to see the birds? To wear time can we expect them around?D they have boats on the lake that can be hired?
DeletePriyanka, early morning birding is always the best, usually before human activity starts. But then if you are.planning for picnic too, then i guess anytime of the day can be good. But i must warn you, there won't be any tree shades. And sometimes it is quite hot under the sun. The water birds are available even during later hours of the day. You won't find any boats though. No such facility is available. Hope this helps, good luck.
